About Greg

The therapy work I do with my clients reflects my own journey toward connection and intimacy in life.

I grew up in the world of non-profits. I worked for the YMCA in residential camps and young adult programs in my teens and young adulthood. Before I took a path toward training as a psychotherapist, I was on a course to enter non-profit leadership.

From non-profit work, I shifted courses into higher education. During my final year at Humboldt State University, I regularly lectured in the Psychology Department as a Teaching Assistant and worked in the Department of Student Affairs. I received robust undergraduate training in Psychology and secular Religious Studies from Humboldt. I attended Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, where I received my MS in Marriage and Family Therapy, while at the same time working with young adults in a camp setting for a Christian non-profit.

As you might infer, I’ve always been a bit of an identity nomad. And not always by choice. I stepped from non-profit, to higher-ed, to ministry and then into psychotherapy.

A challenge of having a nomadic identity is finding a through-line can be a real challenge. I loved having multiple passions, but there were also parts of myself I was running from—in my case, my gay identity. In inviting this walled-off part of me to the conversation, I began questioning what I learned about sexuality and gender from my time in the conservative church, overcoming sexual shame and celebrating the beauty of the human connection that happens in the erotic. This invitation inward meant self-discovery and new opportunities for connection.

Sex, gender, sexuality and human connection are the through-lines in my story, and I’m lucky enough to share them in my work with my clients. I found these through an inward journey marked by learning to love all parts of myself. I found an ability to connect more honestly and intimately with the people around me.

I invite you to journey deeper into connection and intimacy. Get curious about yourself and those around you. Therein we find healing. I can’t wait to join you on your journey.
